September 4, 2006: Budgets, Stage Managers, and "The Last Days of the Dixie Girl Cafe"

This week we are talking about budgets. We offer some tips on how to best put a production budget together and talk about things that have worked for us. Larry Ann Evans, director of the Geneva Theatre Guild, sends us a "Show of the Week". Larry Ann interviews Melanie Phillips, a director in Colorado, about Robin Swicord's "The Last Days of the Dixie Girl Cafe".

This week we also have the first in our four part series on stage managing. We talk with Allison Emerich, a junior in the DeSales University technical theatre program, and with Stephanie Simons Neal, who frequently stage manages for the Villagers Theatre in Somerset, NJ. We ask them: how they became involved in stage managing, what they think the most challenging aspects are, what they find most rewarding, and if there are any other roles in theatre they would like to take on.
