“Labor Day” at SummerFun

“Labor Day”
by A.R. Gurney

The play takes place on a Labor Day weekend in a Connecticut country home. The scene is a chicken coop converted to a writer's den where John is wrestling with his most recent script based on his own family. John's recent encounter with cancer has changed him. He has reached a point in his life where it is time to reevaluate what he has always felt he knew so clearly about himself in respect to his writing, but more importantly, to his family. Gurney calls it a "rebirth of wonder." The humor is pure Gurney; witty and quick.
