The Chatham Players are seeking a Director & Musical Director for their Spring 2013 production of The Fantasticks. Production will be May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 8pm and May 12 at 3pm with auditions in late February. All performances will happen at The Chatham Playhouse at 23 North Passaic Ave Chatham, NJ. The Fantasticks by Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones and Music by Harvey Schmidt is considered to be the world's longest running musical with 42 years and 17,162 performances of the off-Broadway production. A mix of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore and Rostand's Les Romanesques, The Fantasticks tells the story of forbidden love between the son and daughter of feuding neighbors. But will their love survive when they find out their fathers staged the feud so they would fall in love? The Fantasticks has endured because its observations about life, innocence and disillusionment are universal and timeless.
