HI there, I just noticed that there are postings here about each of your podcasts, and I wanted to give you my feedback of the one I heard last week.
I listened to the podcast with the two guests (can't remember their names right now). Anyway, let me preface all of this by saying I don't know what your technical capabilities are with producing the podcast, so only some of my suggestions may actually work.
When I listen to a podcast about theater, it would be really neat to hear something other than people just talking about theater. We're theater people, we do this all the time. Why not spice up the podcast with audio clips, either from shows you've seen at other community theaters (or your own community theater) or radio clips from NPR, something to break up the conversation. Again, i don't know your capabilities, but perhaps even adding some show tunes from your collection to break up the talking might be a cost-effective alternative. Or if you want to get really fancy with your CD collection and you have some audio editing capabilities, why not grab snippits of lyrics or phrases from your show tunes and insert them into the show as sound effects? If you've ever done a Sondheim show, you know that some of his phrases are infectious and often appropriate in everyday conversation.
Also, ironically enough, I found the conversation to be very "staged." Podcasting seems to give otherwise non-radio people broadcast ability, but it doesn't necessarily give them the gift of radio gab. I found the podcast to be a little like a college radio show - not much structure, conversation all over the place, a little too much "inside joking."
Now, please understand, I only listened to one episode of your podcast, so perhaps my opinion of the podcast is jaded by that one show. But I thought you might benefit from some constructive criticism based on that one listen. Please don't take offense to any of this, I just thought of all this while I was listening and thought I'd try to help you out.
Just my two cents...you can take them or leave them. :-)

Hi Strell1010,
I don't have direct involvement with the podcast, other than to post notices here on it and on other Country Gate Players events, but I'll certainly pass on your comments and thoughts to Bill. And believe me, no offense taken at all--I know that he'll welcome the feedback.
If you ever want to send him comments directly, you can reach him at: [email protected]
(of course, you can always post here if you prefer)
Thanks for posting! :)
