“Jersey Voices” at Chatham Players

“Jersey Voices”

Our program for new playwrights of the Garden State. New, unpublished and unproduced plays are solicited each year and produced on our stage in early August to help playwrites in the creative process..

Re-Boot by John Watts, with Scott Bishop and Kathie Kneese, directed by Mark Phelan, is a humorous look at a middle-aged couple's struggle with the age of the Internet. Harris and the Moongarden, directed by Wanda Maragni, written by Will McAdam, with Arnold Buchane and David Spellman, is a touching story of the bond developing between a troubled young man and an older, wiser one. Next Stop, with John Dowgin, Faith Agnew, Scott Bishop and Barbara Zamora, is a rollicking comedy conversation written by Mary Ann Murphy and directed by Betty Restaino. Eric Alter's Seven Mintutes in Heaven, with Michelle Volpe and Scott Gerenstein, directed by Brett LaRose, explores with charm and humor the tribulations of teen identity and romance. Reincarnation, also by Eric Alter, directed by Mark Phelan, features Joey Burger and Will Flanagan in the story of an 11 year-old's sudden encounter with the concept of reincarnation. Cynthia Wiese directed A Small Piece of History, by Bill Mesce, a powerful story of a soldier's experience with war, committment and betrayal. Shane Mullery's The Grand Dame Charges, with Jill Bormon and Jeanne Trimble, is directed by Glen Albright. Labelled by the author as "one-act fluff," this over-the-top comedy concerns a shopping diva and her face-off with a clerk.
