This saga of the silent film era is the story of legendary director Mack Sennett and his greatest star, the adorable Mabel Normand. It is told in flashback by Mack Sennett himself as the protagonist-narrator and he opens a broken man, made obsolete by talkies, having to sell his studio, and reminiscing about the past. He recalls his triumphs and his turbulent love affair with Mabel.
