“The Desperate Hours” at Chatham Players

“The Desperate Hours”
by Joseph Hayes

This brilliantly crafted drama began as an award-winning novel before being preserved as a movie starring Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March. Set in the mid-1950's, The Desperate Hours is the story of a family held hostage in their own home by three escaped convicts who use the family as cover until they can work their plan to seek revenge on a small town Deputy Sheriff. As the Police and the F.B.I.. close in, the stakes are raised and "cracks" slowly appear in the convicts' destructive scheme.
