is currently the Lighting Director for the New York City Ballet, where he has designed over 100 premieres for their repertory. He has worked with numerous choreographers, including Peter Martins, Christopher D’Amboise, Kevin O’Day, William Forsythe, Susan Marshall, David Gordon, Lynn Taylor Corbett, Lar Lubovitch, Laura Dean, and others. Mr. Stanley previously served as Resident Lighting Designer for the New York City Opera, lighting over 20 new productions for the resident and touring companies. He continues to design for NYCO, with additional opera credits including Virginia Opera, Wolftrap Opera, Tulsa Opera, New Orleans Opera, Kentucky Opera, and the American Opera Center at the Juilliard School. His designs have been seen nationally on PBS for "Live From Lincoln Center" and "Great Performances," including The Balanchine Celebration, An Evening with Alan J. Lerner, and New York City Opera’s The Merry Widow, The New Moon, and Carmen. Mr. Stanley is on the board of the Gilbert V. Hemsley Jr. Internship in Lighting and is the author of the Color of Light Workbook.
