Richard Meyer Biography

Richard has designed over 130 productions over the past decade Off-Broadway and in regional theatres, including the LA premiere of Hurlyburly featuring Sean Penn and Danny Aiello, directed by David Rabe; the NY and ASC premieres of Old Business, All My Sons in Madra, India; as well as settings for infomercials, “Harper’s Bazaar” and interior design/ furniture commissions. Richard simultaneously served seven years as a resident designer at both The Berkshire Public Theatre in Massachusetts and East Coast Arts in New York, featuring many new plays. Richard is also a singer/songwriter. Two of his albums of cinematic songs, Me Good Life! and A Letter from the Open Sky, are available nationally on Shanachie Records. He has been at the center of the Greenwich Village scene since the early 1980’s, and as the Editor/ Producer of “The Fast Folk Musical Magazine,” Richard produced 40 albums, many radio broadcasts and concerts of new work by established and emerging American songwriters.
