Gary P. Cohen
Gary P. Cohen has worked in the NJ theater scene for close to 30 years. In the early 1970's he co-founded Celebration Playhouse in Cranford which had the reputation of being one of the best of the independent NJ theaters. After an 8-year stint as a theatrical agent for William Morris in NYC, Gary left to pursue more creative outlets, and has directed, acted and designed sets and lights at many of the area theaters. His work has been seen at The Forum Theatre in Metuchen, the Bickford Theater in Morristown, The Chatham Playhouse and many of the area colleges. He has also helmed the fall drama and spring musical at Cranford High School since 1991, where he taught video production. In 1980 he began his relationship with Middlesex County's Plays-in-the-Park, where he has been the Producing Director for the past 10 years, currently producing all of their shows, and directing and designing several each season. His most recent project is co-author of an original musicalization of the Frankenstein legend, which will have a video production Fall of 2001, and he is also at work on a book about Community Theaters for Heinemann Publishing, due out in 2002.
