Gretha Boston is the 1995 Tony® Award-winner for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Showboat) and a 1999 Tony® Award-nominee for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues). This year, Ms. Boston toured with the national company of South Pacific as Bloody Mary, starring Robert Goulet. Ms. Boston was a nominee for the Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress for the 2000-2001 season at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC (It Ain’t Nothin’ but the Blues). She is also a recipient of the Theater World Outstanding Debut Artist (1995). She made her Carnegie Hall Debut May, 1991 in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and returned that same year for performances in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Ms. Boston has performed operatic roles including Maddelena in Rigoletto (New York Grand Opera), Maria in Porgy and Bess (Buffalo Philharmonic); oratorio works including Messiah, Elijah, and Verdi’s Requiem, as well as recital programs. Television highlights include PBS’s An Enchanted Evening – A Salute to Oscar Hammerstein as well as appearances on Late Night with David Letterman, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, The Today Show and NBC’s Law & Order.
