David returns to McCarter, having previously designed Meshugah and Cymbeline. He earned the first Connecticut Critics Circle Award given to a sound designer for his work on Romeo and Juliet, The Rivals (Hartford Stage) and Pentecost (Yale Repertory Theatre). He has earned Outer Critics Circle Awards for his work on Playland by Athol Fugard and Golden Girls by Louise Page at South Coast Repertory. Other sound designs include productions at Center Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Lincoln Center Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Public Theater, Philadelphia Drama Guild, Dallas Theater Center, LaJolla Playhouse, The Alliance Theatre, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Circle in the Square, and Portland Stage Company. Budries also produced sound and music for radio shows, music CD’s, storytelling festivals, music festivals, poetry festivals and museum exhibits. He works out of his private studio in Glastonbury, CT where he writes and records sound scores and music for the performing arts. Budries is a faculty member and chairs the Sound Design program at the Yale School of Drama.
